Maybe the girl should have chosen something looser to wear than her tight denim mini-skirt. Maybe the girl needs to go back to her dojo for further instruction. Maybe the girl needs to sign up for karate lessons at her local dojo.

Whatever the problem, have fun watching this girl make a wonderfully, high kick and fall hard on her, um, beautiful backside.

An article appeared in Black Belt magazine back in 1968 featuring the father of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba, who was 85-years-old at the time, and still practicing the martial art of Aikido, bringing down to the mat young men stronger than himself. The magazine tried to get some straight answers from the O-Sensei about the art of Aikido and his role in it.

At the time Morihei Ueshiba, affectionately called O-Sensei, had just received the crowning victory of his illustrious career as he had been the guest speaker to the opening of the brand new 3-story Aikido world headquarters building in Japan. The newspaper men of the time had become hardened to PT Barnum-like acts meant to amaze, but deceive. So, when they watched O-Sensei toss young men down, they started to look for the catch, the mirrors in the wings so to speak. They had not yet learned how O-Sensei was the real thing.

It certainly didn’t help their lack of belief when all their questions were answered in mysterious, yet humorous, ways. When O-Sensei was asked when he established Aikido, he answered, “The day I was born.” His son quickly answered the first dojo was set up in 1931.

When asked about the meaning of Aikido, O-Sensei replied, “It is the way to reconcile the world and make human beings one family.”

When asked how he pulls an opponent down, O-Sensei remarked, “If he’s going to pull you, then let him pull. Don’t pull against him; pull in unison with him.”

Apparently, Aikido is something that has to be experienced, and not something that can give pat answers. It’s a shame one of the newspapermen didn’t offer to go on the mat with O-Sensei. Not only would it prove that this was the real deal, but it would teach him a bit more respect for this elderly man. (Not that any were behaving disrespectfully.)

As for the new headquarters, who could not be impressed? For the 75 years prior to the opening of the new building, O-Sensei’s headquarters had been in a ramshackle 75-mat dojo. The new headquarters contains a 130-mat dojo with two smaller 40-mat rooms.

At the time there were some 300 practitioners worldwide, but as Aikido was still fairly new, those who had made high level grades and could qualify as instructors were few in number. Therefore, private classes were limited. The higher level classes contained at least 15 students at 5,000 yen ($14) per month. Remember that was 1968, when things cost considerably less than they do today. Compare the $14 per month to the general fee for beginners at $1 per month. Get the picture?

Ki was a part of regular instruction. An instructor would demonstrate one technique with one student, and the the other students would practice it with each other for about 5 minutes. Then another technique would be demonstrated, and so on.

To understand the rigors of becoming an instructor one needs to look at how to rise in the grades. A beginner starts at 5th grade and works up to first grade wearing a basic judo gi. Getting through the five grades takes one about a year and one-half to about two years. When the student gets promoted to shodan, he dons the black hakama skirt.

A battery of examinations were held the fourth Friday and Sunday of each month when students would try their best to attain at elevation to a higher degree within their grade. To assess them properly the students were grouped into categories of professionals (those who trained regularly) and amateurs (those who attended workshops regularly). Students had to demonstrate not only the physical side of Aikido, but the spiritual side.

28-year-old George Lee Willard of California had come to Japan to train in Aikido. Even with his black belt in karate, he found trying to learn how to win in Aikido a real challenge. He told reporters his goal was to one day take down O-Sensei. He knew he would need a quite a few years more of training to be able to succeed at that, and he believed that O-Sensei might actually live those many years, considering the great health of the 85-year-old man. Unfortunately for George and the world, Morihei Ueshiba would die the following year.

Morihei Ueshiba was a devoutly religious man. Many considered him equivalent to the highest priest in Japan. The spirit side of Aikido played an equal importance to the originator of the martial art. O-Sensei claimed that he did not derive Aikido from any other martial art, however, critics of the martial arts recognize that Aikido hip rotations are much like kendo, and other techniques very much like jujitsu. Yet, Morihei Ueshiba emphatically insisted the God inside of him emerged and created Aikido.

To properly adhere to the ki of Aikido one must be able to assimilate how physical movement is controlled by the mind. Ki enables one to sense danger coming, anticipate it, and overcome it. The ki produces a reaction so swift a camera can’t easily catch it. For this reason many believe that high a level of Aikido to be something of a developed sixth sense.

The high popularity and growing devotion to the physical and spiritual aspects that Aikido has since propagated is a testament to the practice and beliefs of its founding father.

Jason Sam of the Marshall Islands won the gold medal at the 2013 Pacific Mini Games. By knowing that he would face competitors who were all trained differently seemed to diffuse Jason’s nerves before the competition.

After getting through the first round Jason felt more confident, relaxed and strong. His final match put him against a stronger fighter from New Guinea who had just defeated Tahiti in the semi-final rounds. He knew he would have to change his game and move faster. He managed a head kick in the first three seconds of the round that was so quick the judges missed it. After a public outcry and review they awarded him his three points.

The cheering fans supported his confidence, and the intensity of winning the gold had a serious impact on him when he received a penalty. It was his stamina and physical training that kept Jason going against this competitor who barely flinched with each hit and kept coming back for more. In the end Jason won with his second hit to New Guinea’s head.

At the PMG award ceremony, the judges named Jason Sam the Outstanding Male Taekwondo Athlete of the tournament.

In the first video a woman wins a friendly wrestling match with a man much larger around than her before a huge crowd of spectators at a fair or festival of some kind. She uses a duck under throw that happens to be a gracefully deceiving move.

In the second video a man challenges random people on the street to try and punch him in the face. Use of the intellect prevents them every time. His amazing speed at bobbing and weaving protects him every time. It’s fun to watch. (One man manages to get in one punch.)

Sauer earned his black belt studying under Helio and Rickson Gracie in 1985.

Jesse Enkamp bemoans the loss of childhood with all its passion for living and big dreams. He remembers wanting to be a pirate, an astronaut, an alien, and a kung-fu master. But along the way of growing up he complains we all are swayed from our passion into a comfort zone. We educate ourselves to please our parents, and we find comfortable jobs that pay for comfortable lifestyles to please society.

He wants everyone to embrace the passions of childhood that we’ve neglected in the name of expectation and normalization. He wants us all to remember where we came from and recapture those big dreams and passions. He quotes from Buddha about “honesty.”

Next he invites everyone to blog why they do karate. He answers his own question first to get the ball rolling. But does his answer reflect a great inner passion for karate, a great childhood dream? No, Jesse Enkamp started karate because his parents made him take a class. He later developed the passion for karate; it gave him direction, belief, identity, confidence, and strength of body and mind. Maybe Mom and Dad sometimes, or in this one instance, know better about some things.

Nevertheless, the question has inspired a huge following of answers. Perhaps you would like to share your own story.

Jackie Chan, in cooperation with the government of China, has begun plans to open a Jackie Chan theme park in Yizhuang, a suburb of Beijing. Yizhuang once belonged to Chinese royalty as a hunting grounds. Today Yizhuang has turned into Beijing’s Economic and Technical Development Area.

The theme park will showcase five major themed areas and require no admission price, however, some attractions will require the purchase of a ticket. Jackie Chan has donated many artifacts he has collected in his lifetime, including four antique wooden Chinese buildings.

Meanwhile, Singapore has joined the Jackie Chan mania. Not to be outdone by Hong Kong’s recent exhibition of Bruce Lee, Singapore intends to create an entire museum dedicated to Jackie Chan. Construction for the Jackie Chan Museum began in 2008 will reside in the Changfeng Ecological Business District next to Suzhou Creek.

The museum will display Jackie Chan’s movie memorabilia and his personal collection. “I wanted to buy everything when I was young, but now I want to donate whatever I have,” said Mr. Chan in a recent interview. “One person’s happiness can’t compare to the joy of all, only culture lasts forever.”

This is hilarious. A woman invites her two friends over for tea. They discuss a poor mutual friend of theirs who was mugged at the mall. The woman invites her loving son, a huge football player who has killed four opponents this season alone, to play along with her as she demonstrates her powerful moves.

The reminds the women friends that women are the most powerful people on the planet. The women agree. They remind the boy that his mom has delivered 7 children in only three years.

It’s fun to see how she excuses every failed move with very practical reasons. But the mom wins in the end. Her technique cannot be argued with, and it sends her hulk of a son running for his life.

This video tutorial shows the scientific explanation of why muay thai fighting, escrima, and karate works. These computer generated images show how the human body can act as a weapon, with or without hand held weapons, delivering death blows.

It begins by analyzing the side kick. It explains how the power comes from the torque generated by the rotation of the hip, the same principle that cracks a whip (E= ½ mv2), and roughly the same force as a baseball bat. The longer the leg and faster the rotation, the faster the kick. Unlike karate muay thai fighters are taught to fight with the bone of the shin.

The strike of an elbow works like the point of a knife (P=F/A) with all the force concentrated in a small area. It will deliver a master cut even if it doesn’t knock out the opponent.

A knee strike, unlike the kick, gets its power from leverage. When one pulls the opponent down and drives the knee up, it delivers up to 2.5 tons of force, enough to lift a car. Two fists exerts 100 pounds of force on the vulnerable underside of the opponents jaw.

In escrima the flying knee relies on the explosive power of the legs with the equivalent of hitting the opponent in the chest with a sledge hammer. Using twisting motion while grabbing the other’s wrist has enough force to drag the other to the ground. The twisting motion of the torso combined with a weapon, such as a stick, can accelerate to over 25 m.p.h. Contact with the skull can cause a compressed fracture, like being hit in the temple with a hammer.

Baliog Pomali requires you to grab your opponent’s wrist, thrust your other arm behind the opponent’s head and under the arm pit of the same arm where you’re holding the wrist, then using your own weight to drive the opponent to the ground. If done with enough force, it doesn’t just end the fight, it can apply enough force on his neck to leave him paralyzed or dead.

In karate leg movements and kicks can produce deadly blows. Gedan Mawashi Geri the power of the kick can exceed speed of 30 m.p.h. In Jodan Mawashi Geri the impact is focused on the small part of the foot creating 1000 pounds of force on your opponent’s head like getting hit in the head with a Louisville slugger. Uchi Uke deflects an opponents blow with an opposing angle with your arm and coming from the power of your torso. The harder you block, the further the opponent’s blow will deflect.

In karate arm movements can also produce lethal blows. Seiken Choku Zuki the 180 degree pull back of the arm combined with the snap of the arm magnifies the force of the blow with concentrated hit with the first two knuckles of the hand, the same energy as a bowling ball dropped from a rooftop. The Kote Uchi uses a wide swing of the arm to deliver up to 45 m.p.h. of force like being hit with an axe handle.

Fouette delivers a roundhouse kick designed for maximum impact, combined with a hard soled shoe, the kick can deliver a punch to the nose up and into the brain causing instant death. Pointe au foie/directe visage when accurate to within 1/2 an inch can get past the protecting rib cage and rupture the liver. Chasse bas uses forward motion of the hips and piston motion of the leg and the punch of the heel to permanently damage the opponent’s knee cap.

After watching this video you will understand thoroughly why those experts in the martial arts are required to register themselves as a human weapon.

Larry Tatum demonstrates Kenpo karate moves in this well-executed video with music.

He begins with sparring techniques. He demonstrates how keep your guard up from which you can use defensive as well as offensive moves simultaneously. He hits the opponents hand away, while making a quick strike with his other hand to the opponents head or ribs.

Next he demonstrates use of the foot position. Using the exact same moves, crossing over and stepping through, he demonstrates what your feet should do.

Next he demonstrates the kick. You can change your offensive strike with the same moves by using a kick to the stomach. He also demonstrates a shuffle followed by a kick, called a skid-kick, which pulls you into the proper position to grab and punch.

He also demonstrates the attacking zones. When having to defend yourself on the street, he demonstrates how to use the cross-over with a kick, and step through with a punch to take down your opponent. He then demonstrates the heel palm strike. He demonstrates the KB1aH and the KB4aH.

All these basic moves provide the technique necessary for freestyle fighting.

In this fun, tongue-in-cheek karate video, a young man demonstrates five of his own style karate tips, using two backup fighters behind him who put karate into a dance form.

First he demonstrates the “falcon claw” a basic hand strike.

Second he demonstrates “a karate body,” in which he shows a “great workout” by squeezing his fingers while extending his arms to the side. He shows how this “intense” workout will turn you from a tight six-pack belly into a wonderful tubby belly. He then shows the knee of one of his backups and calls it a “bicep.”

Third, he shows how to use these techniques in the real world. He has his muscular buddy weild a plastic sword while he demonstrates taking out the attacker with his “falcon claw.”

It gets worse from here, but you must watch these fun shenanigans if you want to brighten an otherwise dull day.

Infinity martial arts presents their second karate tip of the week in this well-put-together video.

The instructor first demonstrates a very impressive kick. He says it will improve your sparring skills.

He shows how to close the distance by sliding into a side kick. Then he shows how this leads into a proper axe kick which comes straight up the center and down front without moving his chest. He also demonstrates with the hook kick you have to pivot and reach straight across.

He next combines the two kicks for a 2-point kick.

This humor filled video shows Tom Brady giving a karate kick into the the groin of Ed Reed during the last 26 seconds of a game, causing Reed to go down. Ed Reed made a big fuss over the incident in the press and won’t stop crying about it.

The young man making this video expresses his opinion that Ed Reed needs to quit crying about it because he is just as guilty of hitting hard in games.

Whether you agree or disagree with this young man’s opinion, it’s really fun to watch his creative video.

Of course, nobody gets hurt; it’s all in good, clean fun.

In fact the two girls in this home video perform their moves in front of a small class of preschoolers who seem to encourage the fight.

Play karate like this leads to love of the sport, and serves as an encouragement for any little girl looking up to these big girls that she, too, should learn to protect herself.

This video features a karate instructor who teaches the five essential fundamentals of Shotokan Karate for the beginner student.

The instructor first talks about the importance of proper nutrition. Without fuel to burn, your internal engine, the body, will fail to perform. With your body unable to perform, there is no karate. He promotes a balanced healthy diet, either one small meal or one healthy snack every 2-3 hours throughout the day, no sugar, limited to no red meat, and absolutely no fast food, diet drinks, or sodas.

Second, he talks about conditioning. Many students seem to limit their conditioning, or fail to do any conditioning at all. Working on core strength is most important. Without proper conditioning, techniques will never get to where they need to be.

Third one needs to work on flexibility. We need to stretch so as not to injure any part of our body.

Fourth is balance that gives good posture. The center of gravity needs to go straight down through our body.

And fifth, perfect practice. Start a new technique by practicing slowly to gain body memory. Eventually, the technique will go faster and faster. Soon the movement, the technique, will become perfect with speed and accuracy.
