World Wrestling Entertainment’s wrestling superstar Darren Young spoke at an anti-bullying assembly at South Los Angeles’ Samuel Gompers Middle School not about his sexual orientation, which he recently revealed to the media, but to tell about his experiences having a speech impediment as a child.
“People told me that I would not be a WWE superstar, and I didn’t take no for an answer,” Young said. “I improved my speech and I’m living the dream. So (all I can) tell you is, if you have any types of disabilities, don’t (sell) yourself short.”
In a TMZ interview at the Los Angeles International Airport last Wednesday when asked whether a homosexual wrestler can be successful Young replied, “Absolutely! Look at me, you know, I’m a WWE superstar, and to be honest with you, I’ll tell you right now, I’m gay. And I’m happy, very happy.”
