If you can look past its few flaws, Out of the Shadows, the latest in TMNT gaming, packs lots of fun.
In the first five minutes of the game you will enjoy the nostalgia of the original movie’s soundtrack, and the recreation of the movements and unique personalities of each of the four turtles. The first few levels look and sound good, the jokes about pizza are fun. But after awhile the jokes get a little old, and the game becomes a little irritating as it becomes difficult to know which direction to head, and finding the answers works more on luck than skill.
The four heroes of New York take on the foot and a horde of evil robots. Reporter April O’Neal gets kidnapped and its up to the turtles to get her back safely. The game allows up to 4 players, and for the solo player, it’s fun to switch around to each of the turtles who wield different weapons and distinctly different personalities. Sometimes you just find yourself thoroughly outnumbered.
There are some basic puzzles, but you can always get out of it and start it over until you finally solve it. Too often your companions hang back and let you go it alone. The camera gets difficult to maneuver making the movements tricky. But for its low price, it’s not too bad a game.
