Kerry Kennedy, advocate of Speak Truth to Power, to end bullying

Kerry Kennedy, daughter of Robert and Ethel Kennedy, is a human rights defender working for Speak Truth To Power (STTP) an education curriculum offered by her father’s legacy: Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights.

Kennedy and others realize that bullying in the schools will never end if we merely implementing systems from anti-bullying legislation into schools that only react to bullying. We have to learn how to prevent it.

STTP teaches how prevention in many ways. Bullying is first presented as a form of violation to basic human rights, and school as the first place these human rights violations first occur for an individual. Stories of holocaust victims and war victims are also shared as a message of ultimate bullying.

Working with teachers in the ways they instruct students is another. For example: a teacher in one school blamed drug trafficking on Mexican-Americans. The days following found students targeting Mexican-American students with bullying tactics.
